Two Things I Learned About Scotland This Afternoon and Immediately Wished I Hadn't
1. Scotland has one of the highest death rates from coronary heart disease in the western world. After almost a year and a half of living here and amongst Scottish cuisine, I see the direct link. Even today, for example, I sat beside someone who ate a meat pie and baked beans for lunch. I saw another person who ate a plate of fries for her lunch.
Deep-fried pizza, fish and chips, tablet, crisps, deep-fried pies and sausages, more meat than you can shake a stick at, and chocolate - just your average punters daily diet!
2. Scotland has the highest rate of Multiple Sclerosis in the world. Holy shit, get me outta here!

There is a direct link between MS rates and lack of sunshine, hence the higher rates the further north you go, which is often cummulative, over many years.
Sunlight is tied of course to Vit D, so my advice is to start taking a Vit D supp every day - 1000 miligram dose is recommended
Oh yeah, forgot to say

If that is true, why are there almost no cases of MS within the iniut population of Canada? Why is it only white people that seem to be afflicted?!
Not sure of the reason, genetics? Something to do with our skin's ability to process sunlight---Vit D?? I didn't realize the iniut population did not have high cases of MS, I think it must be genetics. They have high rates of diabetes, if that means anything, they lack the ability to deal with the glucose in the north american diet efficently
